On the top of a hill at the peak of a dune
A jolly shepherd plays a tune,
a new song for Israel

The shepherd has merely a tent of cloth
And one little kid is all that he's got

A barking dog comes and asks with joy:
"Is there some room for me to stay? 
I'll protect you night and day"!

So, with a tune, they call from the top: 
"Give us a hand, pal, come right up"!
One little kid, One little kid!

 

Out springs a cat and wails when it's near:
"Give me some space with you up there, 
I won't be idle nor interfere"!

 

So, they reply from the hill – from the top: 
"With all our hearts dear cat, come up"!
One little kid, One little kid!

 

Up on top at the peak of a hill
A scythe sparkles and rings like a bell, 
sounds of harvest in Israel.

 

Let us all sing a song with awe!
Let us raise the swath with a tune, Hurrah!
One little kid, One little kid!
