Yesterday I Was
Winter 1973
That’s it, friend
Remember, my pleading all this time.
You grumbled that I do not come to your home, to know your household
But you knew that I wanted, wanted so much
It was so important to me to see the roots
To understand how someone like you grew.
But then, in our vacation, we were chasing girls.
Yesterday, I was, friend
And you, beautiful as ever
In an album.
I came to console your parents, and they consoled me.
Smiling slightly and saying, It will be good again someday.
I departed in pain
After many hours.
And with my hands I am eroded from the picture
To worlds of eternity.
