The Outgoing Year

The outgoing year approached crouched

And halted at the door

Taking one last glance of departure

While calling out with fatigue:

I admit, my friend, I am a bit puzzled

And with a prayer in my heart and hope

Please, do not remember my friend for the bad

When memories of me are raised.

I'll remember my arrival at the eve of the 1st of Tishrei

And you becoming sanctified when assembled:

A blessing from everyone's mouth is heard

"Be renewed oh year – with goodness"!

I labored very much and my essence is known,

And as I inherit my place to the successor

Admit my friends, that I undertook the burden,

But have you also fulfilled your obligation?
