Israel Hameiri

Flying from Refidim to Lod

Sdamot, Platform of the Kibbutz Movement, Volume 53, Winter 5734, p. 39

You would not believe. How the desert suddenly receded.

And how the entrenched tools of destruction shrank and disappeared

And the land slowly moved and turned as if in a dream

And a strange cold wind blew and the darkness slowly descended,

And stars were seen among the clouds, truly stars,

And then the heart blossomed and went crazy, it did not believe,

Did not want to believe (but maybe it could not,) and for a moment

Slept, and then came the blow of a hard landing, the ground.

Sinai, 23/12/1973
