Why was Shabbat Created? For Separation

Shadmot

Why was Shabbat Created? For separation. All creatures are ruled by their movements. The sun marks morning and night and does not cease to move. The ground does not rest, plants do not cease to grow and animals do not take a day off. The world is in motion and there is not stop to it unless it is for death or cessation, and we've already seen that water that has no movement is no longer living water. It is only man who can control movement, and when Shabbat is sanctified he creates a separation. The struggle is not easy. Movement has many powers. Yet man halts his body and spirit, and guards and controls his world. Such a man becomes a free man, separated from the creation, and yet - alive.
