On Saturday night, on the 9th of Av, I became aware that a disco and a party were being planned for the young people in the dining room.

 

I turned to the social counselor and the secretary, and brought the date to their attention and asked that they postpone the party - - -  both of them answered in the negative, and I said to the secretary that it was a scandal and I still think this way.

 

This is the place to explain to the young people the importance of the issue.

 

From the ruins of this day, Tisha B’Av, the State of the Jewish People was established. On this day the Temple that symbolized the heart of the Jewish people was destroyed twice. It is this day that has symbolized the kernel of the suffering of the people for many generations, religiously and historically. Everyone can treat this day as he wishes, it is a personal decision. However it is definitely a scandal that a kibbutz is holding, in the place of its public assembly – the dining room – a party, specifically on this day.
