Passing thought in the heart

“Sometimes there is a passing thought in the heart, at times of grief and sorrow, that is it not a serious crime that we have committed against our sons when we brought them into the world in this war torn country – land of dispute from days of yore until the present, a country that bereaves its countrymen, whereby the fate is decreed of thousands and tens of thousands of its sons at the time of their birth that they shall be taken in their youth and shall fall as a sacrifice on the altar of war the end of which who shall know?”

“For as long as we, the living, remember them and recall them – they are not dead – they continue to live. Only on the death of the last one who remembers them and recalls them – are they dead and buried in oblivion.”
