Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev used to say:

 

"When I saw that my townsmen were not listening to me, I began to rummage in my own actions. I saw again that none of my household members respect me either. I questioned further and the Almighty blessed my eyes to understand that the sin is on me, since I myself am not behaving properly.

I tried hard to correct myself. Since my family saw me like this, they began obeying me, and in any case my townsmen also retreated from their rebellion and would no longer refuse to accept my opinion.
