When the mountains heard that G-d was giving the Torah to the Jewish people, they ran to the desert and began to fight amongst themselves:
Mt. Carmel said to Mt. Tabor: “Stay in your place, for the Torah shall be given on me!”

And Mt. Tabor said to Mt. Carmel: “Stay in your place, for the Torah shall be given on me!”

And Mt. Sinai stood on the side, for he said: “What am I, that the Torah should be given on me?”

And G-d heard the feud among the mountains, and told them: “Return to your places, because I will not give my Torah on you; rather, on Mt. Sinai.”
