Rabbi Levi Isaac

At the eve of Yom Kippur

On the eve of the Day of Atonement, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak's way was to walk to the synagogue with his hands and feet spread out. And he said, "You have given us the tenth day for fasting and atonement, and you have given us the ninth day to eat and drink and to rejoice. Look at your people, Israel, all of them as one, are in the synagogue, and none of them is missing. None of them is drunk, sleeping off his wine. none of them lies down in his home because he ate too much. They all stand barefoot, etc. Is there another nation like this? " and he used to speak positively about the people of Israel.
