The little station Treblinka
Lyrics: Vladislav Shlengel
Music: Yehuda Poliker
Here is the Treblinka station
Here is the Treblinka station
On the line between Tluszcz and Warsaw
From the Warsaw East station
The train leaves and travels straight
The journey sometimes takes
Five hours and forty five minutes
And sometimes that same journey takes
A whole lifetime until your death
And the station is tiny
Three fir trees grow there
And the regular inscription reads:
Here is the Treblinka station
Here is the Treblinka station
And there isn’t even a cashier
And the freight man is gone
And for a million
You will not get a return ticket
And no-one is waiting at the station
And no-one is waving their handkerchief
Only silence hangs in the air
To greet you in a dull wilderness
And the station column is silent
And the three fir trees are silent
And the black signpost is silent
Because here is the Treblinka station
Here is the Treblinka station
And only the billboard
Is still hanging since then
On old slogan which says:
“Cook only with gas”
Here is the Treblinka station
Here is the Treblinka station
