A Song of Shabbat
Lyrics and Music: Idit Hachamovitch
Shabbat rises to my home shining
sweeping my day with a huge golden light
And then returns to me that same evening
following six ordinary weekdays.
And sounds of a recorder are lifted by the wind
and the words are suddenly larger
And whiteness glows from every window
and there is holiday on the world and - a holiday in one's heart.
Shabbat stretches out a soft loving hand
And with a white shawl gathers grey sand,
And once again her head is covered with the halo of a flame
And once again a day kneels making way for its evening.
And sounds of a recorder are lifted by the wind...
Shabbat rises to my home shining
A queen kisses my day with light and laughter
And once again I raise my eyes this evening
To see her sparkling from far
And sounds of a recorder are lifted by the wind...
