And this is the difference between a youth and an elderly person, being that whoever is still young and had not grown old with his sins, has a greater propensity to repent than an elderly person since he is still close to the time he was called upon:
And this is the meaning of "I strayed like a lost sheep", in other words I have strayed from the right path as a lost sheep who roams away as aforementioned, thereupon I ask You, search your servant, since I have not forgotten your commandments, in other words, I ask that you hurry and seek me for as long as I still remember the sound of calling for Torah and commandments and about this it is stated: "Seek your servant since I have not forgotten your commandments", that you rush and seek me out, "since I have not (yet) forgotten your commandments", and I am still acquainted with the call for the commandments which are the Torah, thereupon – my request is that you have mercy on me and seek me out instantly, for as long as I have not forgotten your commandments, i.e. that I still recognize the call of the Torah and commandments, being that if G-d forbid, an individual becomes old with his transgressions it is very difficult to seek him then, since he will have by then, forgotten the call of Torah and commandments, and would not recognize the sound of that call, thereupon, it is incumbent upon a person to ask the Lord-Blessed-be-He that G-d hurries etc.…
