Welcoming Shabbat in Chanukah 2
Chanukah 5570
Chanukah, Chanukah such a lovely holiday
Pleasant lights all around, little children play
Chanukah, Chanukah tops turn round and round
Spin again, spin all day
Oh, how nice and gay!
Lighting Chanukah Candles
Blessed are you G-d, our Lord King of the universe, who sanctified us with his commandments and commanded us to kindle the light of Chanukah.
Blessed are you G-d our Lord, king of the universe who performed miracles for our fathers in those days, at this time.
Blessed are you G-d, our Lord, king of the universe who granted us life, sustained us and has enabled us to reach this occasion.
O mighty
O mighty stronghold of my salvation,
to praise You is a delight.
Restore my House of Prayer
and there we will bring a thanksgiving offering.
When You will have prepared the slaughter
for the blaspheming foe,
Then I shall complete with a song of hymn
the dedication of the Altar.
The days of Chanukah
The days of Chanukah the dedication of our Sanctuary
With joy and gaiety that fill our hearts
Day and night, spin all the tops
Different kinds of donuts -eat while their hot
Make light, bright candles
Kindle the Chanukah lights
Remember the miracles and all the wonders
That came across though the Maccabees
About the Maccabees we'll tell and we'll sing
Of triumph over mighty armies and a king
Jerusalem the city was once again alive
The Israeli nation -restored and revived
Make light, bright candles
Kindle the Chanukah lights
Remember the miracles and all the wonders
That came across though the Maccabees
We carry torches
We carry torches on pitch black nights
The paths beneath our feet are bright
And whomever has a heart thirsty for light – will raise his eyes to our light – and come!
No Miracle has happened here, we haven't found a flask of oil
We've gone to the valley we've climbed the mountain
We have found the hidden wells of lights
No miracle happened here we found no oil
We've hewed the rock until we bled, and then there was light!
THE WEEKLY JOKE
The Group Blessing: Someone is to be called up to tell of something good he/she had experienced during the week!
Going to the Light / Ehud Banai
This path begins here
Between the bank branch and the fountain
Not paved, not always marked
This path begins here
It crosses town
goes up the mountain
continues to the sea
continues tomorrow as well
cuts the air to new life
Walk on it, walk on it now
angel birds from above
follow your steps
From far a light is turned on
Don't digress so you can get back
This song begins here
Blue on a white page
Not complete, not always intended
This song begins here
It crosses town
goes up the mountain
continues to the sea
continues tomorrow as well
leaps out to the air to new life
Blessing Over Cake
Blessed are you G-d, our Lord, king of the universe, who creates various kinds of sustenance.
