Comparison of Blessings

Blessing from the Siddur

Blessed are you G-d, our Lord

King of the Universe, who sanctified

us with his commandments and desired us,

and His hallowed Shabbat he gave us with love

as an inheritance, a remembrance

for the works of creation,

The first of the holy festivals,

a remembrance for the exodus of Egypt.

Since you have chosen us

and sanctified us from among the nations,

and your holy Shabbat you have given us with love.

Blessed are you G-d,

who hallows the Shabbat.

Reconstructionist Version

a remembrance of the works of creation:

Since it is a the first of the holy festivals,

a remembrance the exodus of Egypt:

since you called onto us

and hallowed us with your service

and your holy day of Shabbat

you have given us as an inheritance

with love and will.

Blessed are you G-d,

who hallows the Shabbat.
