Foreword to “the Book of Heroism”, Tevet 5701, 1941

And the heart asks: What is the fate reflected on Jewish heroism with the renewal of life in the homeland? Will we achieve here the renewal of the Hasmonean heroism, whereby the reward for which is not only in its conscience but also in its victory?

“From generation to generation no purer blood was split than the blood of the Tel Hai ploughmen”. However not as desperate rebels and not as the frenzied inquisition ploughmen and protectors die in Israel. The sorrow of their death is the sorry of Saul and Jonathan who founded the freedom of Israel. In their lives and also in their deaths they say to us: Console, console my people.
