Rosh Hashana

Binyamin Tenne

A year that will end

A year that will end – a year that will come
How did each man bless his heart?
Next year, be a year colors
Greenness of forests moving in the wind,
And gold of the ripening stalk,
And red for the bloom of oak and terebinth,
And apple’s blush and peach’s rosiness
And pear’s yellow asking to be picked.
And the blackness of the clods and the brownish furrows
And the whiteness of the walls of houses being built
And the blue sky at the joyful dawn,
Blooming, shining to the laboring people!
