When You Were Here

Zelda

When you were here

And your brown glance protected me

And our thoughts touch

Suddenly

Wing to wing

When you were with me

Within the passing words

The walls were elderly close friends

Who told ancient tales

In the evening

When we would drink tea

Now the walls are not a shelter

They closed in their silence

And they won’t look after me when I fall

Now the walls are paint and cement

A foreign element

Material that doesn’t answer like death
